The UK Snooker Championship continues with another intriguing day of action at the Barbican in York, including second-round clashes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, and reigning world champion Luca Brecel.
Judd Trump reached the quarter-finals of the UK Championship with a 6-0 victory over Jamie Jones. The 34-year-old was suffering the effects of what appeared to be a flu-like illness when he arrived at the tournament, but followed up his 6-1 win over Pang Junxu with another convincing display, including a century break of 100 to start the match, for a career 950th century.
On the other table during Wednesday afternoon’s session at the Barbican, Ding Junhui defeated Tom Ford 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals thanks to breaks of 126 and 110, although Ford rallied with runs of 118 and 98 to draw level. But Ding sealed the eighth frame and closed out the win with a break of 106, which should secure his spot in next year’s Masters.
