JTI UK is extremely proud to be named a Top Employer for the 11th consecutive year.
Our 11th Top Employer award is recognition of the positive and supportive workplace we have created, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to continually improving the lives of our employees, year after year. We believe in a culture where our employees feel comfortable being themselves and, most importantly, do not have to choose between personal and professional life.
We are proud to share what some of our employees have to say about how JTI UK has supported them as they build and navigate their careers. Andrew has worked at JTI UK for over 20 years and recently he and his partner adopted two girls. Adoption can be a lengthy and stressful process, but our generous family leave policy meant that Andrew had time and space to help his daughters adjust to their new life.
At JTI, all parents – regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or whether they become parents through adoption, surrogacy, or birth – are entitled to 20 weeks of paid leave, which can be taken flexibly to meet their needs. “I don’t think the girls would have adapted so well from the orphanage to their new home without the additional time I was given,” Andrew says. “My wife and I were able to split our vacation so that we could be with the girls as much as possible in the first few months. It also meant that, when I returned to work, I felt truly motivated, refreshed, and ready for new challenges.
“The flexible working hours mean I can continue to fulfill my parenting duties, such as school running, without affecting my work. Adoption is an incredible and big change, so it was reassuring to know that my employer trusted me to do the work flexibly.”
Izzy recently completed JTI UK’s 18-month graduate program and was appointed area sales manager. The graduate scheme is designed to allow individuals to experience different areas of the business and explore a variety of roles and opportunities. Izzy says: “As I progressed in the recruitment process, the more I learned about JTI and its work in terms of sustainability and community investment, the more I was drawn to it.”
“The scheme is fast-paced, with individual projects to manage and regular presentations, but I always felt supported, whether through my direct manager, mentor or colleague. I was a bit nervous starting my first job after university, but regular training sessions and real-life work experience helped me develop as a person and increase my confidence.”
Sharon has worked at JTI UK for over 15 years. In 2021, she had complications with hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which she was taking to relieve menopause symptoms. As a result, she received the difficult news that she would need a hysterectomy. There may be stigma around menopause in some workplaces, but Sharon says the company’s menopause education and awareness initiatives have promoted an open and supportive environment that helped her feel at ease and continue to thrive in her career during a challenging period of her life.
Our big idea is simple: to create an environment where people make a difference and success is recognized. We take a holistic approach to well-being, complemented by an open culture, extensive support and learning opportunities. We are passionate about our people. We place reward, learning, development, and well-being at the heart of our organization, celebrating diversity, flexibility, and empowerment, encouraging everyone to be the best they can be.
