Roy is a great man, my friend, doing a great job with Palace – Pochettino
Crystal Palace takes on Chelsea in a Premier League game on Monday night that could have serious repercussions for both managers.
Roy Hodgson, who is in charge of the Eagles, is under pressure from the fans after a series of fluctuating results that have left the London team in the bottom half of the table. Palace has only won three games since the end of September and is just five points above the relegation zone, which means it is at risk of being dragged into a relegation battle. If they do not manage to gain more consistency and the positive results that tend to follow, the pressure will continue to mount on the owners to replace Hodgson with a manager who can bring a more exciting brand of football to Selhurst Park.
A similar situation faces Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino. Consecutive losses to Wolves and Liverpool have increased the noise around the Argentine, but a deserved victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round replay shows signs that he is imprinting his own style of play on the team. However, the pressure on Pochettino would return if Chelsea slipped against Crystal Palace tonight.
